Iranians in Manchester who oppose the regime of Ayatollah Khamenei have celebrated what they described as a “turning point in history” following the elimination of the Islamic Republic’s Supreme Leader.
Protesters numbering in their hundreds waved flags and chanted slogans calling for a new era in Iran, specifically advocating for the return of the monarchy under King Reza Pahlavi.
The demonstrators were hopeful a regime change will end dictatorship in Iran as they look forward to a democratic country.
A protester at the rally said: “The assassination of Ayatolla Khamanei is not just a victory for Iranians, but as a monumental shift for the entire Middle East. We are over the moon.”
The group issued a direct appeal to the UK Government, urging officials to formally support the Iranian people’s revolution.

They called on the UK government to cease all diplomatic ties with the Islamic Republic, including closing their embassy.
A notable aspect of the Manchester gathering was the visible solidarity between the Iranian and Jewish communities.
A member from the Manchester Jewish community spoke passionately about the two-year bond formed during vigils for hostages and victims of regional conflict.
He said: “For two years, the Iranians who want regime change have stood by the Jewish people.”
He added that he shared hope for a future where travel between Tel Aviv, Manchester, and Tehran is possible and peaceful.
The rally offered a message of unwavering support for those still inside Iran, promising that the diaspora will continue to back them.
