Is a Manchester Blue moon shining on Arsenal?

When Artemis 2 launched on 1 April 2026 Arsenal were the clear favourites to beat Manchester City in the race to the Premier league title.

Artemis 2 returned to earth safely having seen the dark side of the moon. Arsenal fans may now be wondering if the blue moon that is shining brightly in the vicinity of the Eithad stadium is going to eclipse their season.

Following City’s wins against Arsenal on Sunday 19 April 26 and Burnley on 22 April 26 City were sitting proudly at the top of the Premier league on Friday 24 April 26 for only the second time this season. Many will argue that it’s the right time of the season to be on top.

What has changed in less than a month? Have Arsenal crumbled under the pressure of potentially winning their first league title since season 2003/4? Has Pep got into the head of his former assistant Mikel Arteta or is it the experience of the serial league and trophy winners that has led to one of the most exciting premier league finales in recent times?

In my interview with Dickie Denton the author of Feeling Blue he said that he thought Arsenal weren’t crumbling under the pressure from City but ‘were feeling the pressure from City’. He also said that Pep had got into the head of Arteta with subtle mind games. He believes that a ‘Pep uses his intensity to liberate his players whereas Arteta uses his intensity to put pressure on his players’.

Finally, Dickie predicted that City would win the league by two points as he thought that West Ham would beat Arsenal.

Most pundits have an opinion on what has happened to City and the Gunners although they are divided along club allegiances.

Ian Wright believes that Arsenal have lost the ruthlessness that they had earlier in the season but has confidence that they will creep over the line and win the title – 23 April 26 Football 365. Arsenal has scored 21 goals in their last 10 premier league games, so they are scoring plenty of goals but between 1 – 24 April they didn’t win a Premier league game while City won all their Premier league games.

Micah Richards believes that the Champions League semi final games against Atletico Madrid will play a big part in the final destination of the premier league. It’s an additional 2 games for Arsenal and they are against a very tough and physical Atleti team. Richards believes ‘Man City will win the title because they will win the psychological battle because they have leaders and they have experience going into it’ – 23 April 26 – Mirror

It’s anyone’s guess who will be the 2026/27 Premier League champions but there’s no denying that it’s been one of the most exciting and nail-biting league title run ins in quite some time.

The next monthly blue moon is on 31 May 2026. In who’s trophy cabinet will the Premier League trophy be when the blue moon rises on 31 May?
