Dave Ryding is Britian’s most successful skier and anticipated to achieve British Salom success in the current Milan Olympics.
Ryding said on his final interview with the BBC on Ski Sunday before heading to Italy: “Everyone always says what if you grew up in the mountains, but I am immensely proud of where I came from.”1
The ski champion’s mark on Britain’s winter sporting community has been unmatched through his achievements and advocacy for resilience.
Tristan Glasse-Davies, Dave’s former coach said: “You’ve been an inspiration for so many people.”
The Skiier first took co ownership of Boskins Café in Tarleton back in 2019 but despite taking a step back to focus on the slopes, his legacy remains.
That same sense of drive has guided the direction of Boskins Café as a business. Influenced by a passion for sport and the local community, the café’s ownership has sought to introduce ideas that align with the ethos it was first built on.

Loved by locals and visitors alike, the café continues its influence in the sporting world, now run by new owner Janine.
Boskins have introduced a new beer to their menu ahead of the Olympics which has a particular closeness to the slopes, JUBEL.
Discovered in the French Alps, the team at Boskins selected the new addition for its sentimental relation to the café ethos and where it began.
To this day, Ryding’s impact remains on the quiet Lancashire town, as Janine said: “We still have people that have come over from Austria, specifically to see him.”
From The Alps to Tarleton, the Ski champion is an ambassador for community togetherness.
Janine said: “The community has really embraced us here, because we do a lot for the kids, do a lot for different charities, a lot for the school, it’s going to be an ongoing success in this village.

“We are very lucky because we’re the only people in the village who have a lovely outdoor space as well for the kids.”
The café continues the role that Dave began through their commitment towards the community’s enthusiasm for sport.
Whether this is hosting football games in their outdoor space or maintaining a highly popular run club, Ryding’s values are upheld.
Janine added: “The lads are all doing things like marathons in Dubai and HYROX in Copenhagen.”
Long after his time on the slopes, Ryding’s influence continues to resonate- inspiring young people, fostering community, and putting a small Lancashire town firmly on the international map.
