A 95-year-old Salford woman was reportedly ‘tied up and threatened’ in her own home during a ‘vile’ robbery attempt.

According to Greater Manchester Police, it is believed the man tied up her hands upon entering the property after offering to clean the woman’s windows, before demanding cash and her purse.

The suspect reportedly fled the house, on Belcroft Drive in Little Hulton, when another woman arrived at the house before anything could be taken.

No one was injured, and the victim is being supported by officers. An arrest is yet to be made.

Detective Inspector Paul Davies, from GMP’s Salford district, said: “This was a vile incident in which a woman was tied up and threatened, and we are determined to locate the man responsible.

“Thankfully, this was not a more serious situation and we commend the brave actions of the lady’s friend who confronted the man and called officers.

“As we progress this investigation, we are appealing for anyone with any information to please come forward. It could be something big or small– it all assists in our work.”

The police are appealing for any CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage from around the area at the time, or anyone who saw anything suspicious.

The man is described as a white male in his late 60s to early 70s. He had short mousy brown hair combed back, no facial hair, glasses and appeared well-kempt. He was wearing a dark raincoat jacket, jeans and dark-coloured shoes.
