Woman found dead at Wythenshawe home named

A woman who was found dead at a Wythenshawe home has now been named.

Anam Rafay, who was in her 30s, is believed to have been stabbed, and a murder investigation is now underway.

Officers were called to an address on Lulworth Gardens, Baguley at around 8:30am yesterday morning (27th January) following reports of a disturbance.

Despite the efforts of officers and medical staff, she was pronounced dead at the scene after being found unresponsive.

A 44-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.

A spokesperson from Manchester Coroner’s Court has confirmed that they have a record with Ms Rafay’s name.

The police are urging anyone with any information to come forward to help with their investigation.

Superintendent Gayle Brister said: “Whilst the investigation is still in early stages, I want to reassure the public that our officers are working tirelessly and following all lines of enquiry to establish the full circumstances of this tragic incident.

“We understand it may cause concern across our communities, however we believe there is no wider risk to the public.

“Specialist officers are in place to support the family throughout the investigation.

“We currently have a man in custody and a police cordon remains in place at the scene. I urge anyone with information or any witnesses to please come forward and report.”
