The Portico Library, based in Manchester city centre has turned 220 and to celebrate, the library has offered visitors to see its long history and contribute to it with a time capsule.

Opening last week, Everything & Nothing: What makes a 220-year-old library presents pages, photographs and art from Portico’s vast and historic collection.

Founded in 1806, The Portico Library’s collection includes over 25,000 books. It is open to both members and the public.

The exhibition is set to go on until October with different events along with the time capsule. In April, visitors can participate in tours through the archives, performances and bookbinding.
