Salford City have announced that tickets for their match against Gillingham will be sold for £1.40 to celebrate Salford’s 100th Year as a city.
Salford play Gillingham at the Peninsula Stadium on Saturday the 11th of April as they continue their hunt for automatic promotion to EFL League One.
The aim of the £1.40 tickets is to bring the feeling of community around the club, bringing people together for the match to celebrate Salford as a city.
Salford City season ticket holder, Dillon Garton, said; “I think it is a really good idea from the club, it is cheap football, which is not always available for fans, but it will be good to see new faces at the club.
“I have been to games where we have taken 50 people to Sutton and 26 to Newport so it will be good to see the ground almost sold out.”
Chief Executive Officer at Foundation 92, Martin Ingham-Griffith, said; “We put our community at the forefront of everything that we do throughout the Club and the Foundation.
This is an opportunity for us all to support one another and celebrate together at this hugely exciting time for Salford, both around the city and at the football club.”
The game is part of Foundation 92’s Community Day, the clubs charity is hosting a free event at Peel Park in Little Hulton with family-focused activities that give people the chance to find out more about the Charity’s work across the region.

Martin said; “This is a huge milestone for the City of Salford, and as a Club and a Foundation, we are all excited to be part of it by running this offer to encourage as many residents to come and celebrate with us as possible.”
With 6 games remaining for Salford, the Ammies are just three points away from a automatic promotion spot, and eight points clear of the play-off places.
Dillon said; “It comes at such a crucial time of the season, I imagine if players come out to see a half empty ground, it is not very motivating so hopefully filling the ground will get the lads going.
“The club are going all out to help back the team, they have spent money on flags and now this ticket event, it is clear that the board are supporting the team with the sole intention to build the city and the club.”

Salford are also in the best form of any of the teams in the top 8, winning 4 of their last 5 games, including their 1-0 win against second place MK Dons last Saturday.
Salford will hope the £1.40 ticket offer attracts a larger crowd to the Peninsula Stadium, helping to generate a strong atmosphere.
“Becoming a city for the first time was an historic moment for Salford, and there would be no better way of celebrating that than with an exciting end to the season, with lots to play for” Martin said.
The club recognises the importance of home support at such a crucial stage of the season.
In his post-match press conference after the MK Dons match, Manager Karl Robinson said; “If you are from Salford can you start to create a bit of an atmosphere, we are a club located in the heart of this city and we need the people of Salford to get behind this team.”
“We are relentless in everything we try to achieve, but we cannot achieve it without the backing of the City.”
This reduced ticket price, encouraging greater attendance, will hope to garner greater support in the future, giving the Ammies the atmosphere needed to finish the season strongly.
