Manchester United and England defender Harry Maguire has been given a 15-month suspended sentence by a Greek court.

This comes after an incident while the footballer was on holiday in August 2020 on the island of Mykonos.

Maguire was convicted of non-serious assault, resisting arrest and attempted bribery.

The England international, who was captain of Manchester United at the time, was arrested after a fight involving his family in August 2020.

Initially, the 32-year-old was initially given a suspended sentence of 21 months and 10 days in prison in 2020.

The following day, Maguire’s legal team appealed against the guilty verdict. In Greek law, this appeal voided his conviction and meant there would have to be a full retrial.

This retrial was postponed four times between 2023 and 2025, before it restarted in Syros on Wednesday 4 March.

Maguire started his football career via the youth system at Sheffield United in 2011.

Before moving to Manchester United in 2019, he also played for Hull City and Leicester City.

Sky Sports understands Maguire was not involved in these latest legal proceedings and that his lawyers will appeal to the Greek Supreme Court to attempt to clear his name.
