A new Immersive experience built by students is taking you into the fictional world of VEGANZZ, where a virus has spread across the country and infected everybody, except in this unique take on zombies, they hunger for Socialism, not brains.
VEGANZZ is a short film by Will Quail, a 3rd Year student at the University of Salford, in which zombies have taken Britain by storm, and he is bringing the world of the film to real life.
In promotion for the short film and for his third-year Film Production project, he, along with hard hard-working team, has built an immersive experience which blends terrifying horror, humorous dark comedy, and the political themes of 1980s Britain.
The film looks at Alan, a former miner who is looking for his lost father and, on his journey, finds Flynn, a former miner who has turned into one of the countless Zombies.
Will Quail, working with his devoted team of set designers, Heidi Thompson and Cameron Simpson White, has been toiling away on creating an abandoned 80s-themed environment that acts as an escape into the world of the film itself.
In an interview with Quail and Thompson, they went through what the experience is and how it works.
A large inspiration for the plot of the film was the UK miners’ crisis, which was a recurring issue which defined a large portion of Margaret Thatcher’s time as Prime Minister during the 80s and is present as a key theme throughout the film.
The entire VEGANZZ team has been hard at work to bring you a frightful experience which will chill you to your brains.
The immersive experience is free and open to all until late January in the Newton Building on the University of Salford Main Campus.
