150 cannabis plants seized in early morning Withington police raid

Manchester South Neighbourhood Policing Team seized 150 cannabis plants following a warrant on Goldborne Avenue, Old Moat.

Officers carried out the raid on the house on the 17th February following intelligence from the community.

No arrests were made, but 150 cannabis plants were taken away for testing.

PC Sean McDonald said: “We received a number of community-fed intelligence reports over the last few months, particularly involving drug supply and ASB within south Manchester.

“These reports were investigated, leading to the authorisation and execution of a Misuse of Drugs Act Warrant in the early hours of this morning at an address in the Old Moat area.

“Whilst this has yet to lead to an arrest, it has resulted in the seizure of 150 cannabis plants, removing thousands of pounds worth of illicit material from hitting the streets and derailing future criminal endeavours for the cultivation and supply of drugs in the south of Manchester and further afield.

“This would not have been possible without the support of the community, helping us direct our efforts where needed most. The investigation remains ongoing and any further information would be greatly appreciated.”
